
Saudi Arabian authorities have intensified their nationwide crackdown on illegal residents and law violators, resulting in the arrest of 15,836 individuals in a single week. The operations, conducted between July 9 and July 15, 2026, targeted violators of residency, labor, and border security regulations across all regions of the Kingdom.
Breakdown of Violations and Arrests
The Ministry of Interior reported that the arrests were categorized based on the specific nature of the legal breach. The majority of the cases involved residency violations, followed by illegal border crossing attempts and labor law infractions.

Illegal Border Crossing Statistics
During the same period, authorities apprehended 1,631 individuals while they were attempting to enter Saudi Arabia illegally. The demographic breakdown of these individuals highlights specific migration trends:
- Ethiopian Nationals: 65% of total illegal entrants.
- Yemeni Nationals: 33% of total illegal entrants.
- Other Nationalities: 2% of total illegal entrants.
Additionally, 24 people were caught attempting to cross the borders illegally to leave the Kingdom.
Penalties for Assisting Illegal Migrants
Authorities also arrested 21 individuals for facilitating illegal migration by providing transportation, accommodation, employment, or shelter. The Saudi Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning that anyone found assisting illegal residents may face severe legal consequences, including:
- Up to 15 years in prison.
- A fine of up to SAR 1 million.
- Confiscation of vehicles and property used in the offense.
Deportation and Reporting Violations
The Saudi government remains committed to maintaining national security. As a result of ongoing legal proceedings, 12,211 illegal residents were deported during this reporting week. The ministry urged the public to report any violations by calling the following emergency numbers:
- 911 in Makkah and Riyadh regions.
- 999 or 996 in other regions of Saudi Arabia.
These field reports are part of a broader strategy to ensure all foreign nationals within the Kingdom adhere to established legal frameworks, ensuring a safe environment for all.
